Privacy Policy

take fyv. (“fyv,” “we,” “us”) is a daily puzzle game at takefyv.com. This page explains, plainly, what data the game touches and why. There is no account, no sign-up, and no email required to play.
What's stored on your device
Your progress lives in your browser’s local storage, not on our servers. This includes:
- An anonymous, randomly generated ID (not tied to your name, email, or account)
- Which dates you’ve played and your scores for each game
- Your current and best streaks
- Whether you’ve seen each game’s instructions before
This data never leaves your device except as described below. Clearing your browser’s site data (or using the reset option in Stats) deletes it completely and instantly.
Anonymous global comparison
When you finish all five of a day’s games, your device may send your combined daily score (a number from 0–100), the date, and your anonymous local ID to our server, so we can show you things like “better than 68% of players today.” That’s the only reason this happens.
This submission never includes your name, email, exact location, or anything else that identifies you personally — just a score, a date, and a random ID generated on your own device. We use the ID only to stop the same browser from submitting the same day twice; it isn’t linked to any other data we hold, because we don’t hold any.
What we don't do
- No accounts, passwords, or emails collected
- No precise location tracking
- No selling or sharing of data with third parties for their own marketing
- No cross-site tracking beyond what's described here
Advertising
take fyv. does not currently display ads. If that changes, this section will be updated first, and any ads will be served through a network such as Google AdSense. Ad networks like Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites; you can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. Ad slots on this site are never shown during active gameplay.
Service providers
The site is hosted on Vercel. Anonymous score data (see above) may be stored using a hosted key-value database (such as Upstash or Vercel KV) to power the daily comparison feature. These providers process data on our behalf and don’t have independent rights to use it.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand overall traffic and how people use the site — things like which pages are visited, which games get played, and general location/device information (such as country and browser type). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to do this, and may use this data in line with its own privacy policy.
This is aggregate, statistical information about visitors as a group, not an attempt to identify you individually. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using your browser’s tracking-protection settings.
Children's privacy
take fyv. is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children, and given the game requires no account or personal details to play, none is collected in the ordinary course of using it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
